Roth Racing Press Release June 5, 2008

John Andretti, in the #24 Roth Racing IndyCar, was a strong 3rd, behind Scott Dixon and Marco Andretti, on the first day of practice for Saturday Night’s Bombardier Learjet 550 at Texas Motor Speedway. Team owner Marty Roth, who missed the final 15 minutes of the session due to a broken throttle cable, ended up 15th.

Dixon topped the charts at 213.837 mph with Marco close behind at 213.465 mph. John Andretti just missed getting into the 213 category, posting a fast lap of 212.956 mph in very windy conditions. Although this is John Andretti’s 3rd consecutive race in the #24 car, it’s the first time he’s raced an IndyCar on the fast Texas track.

JOHN ANDRETTI (#24, Roth Racing)
“Time sheets don’t always tell the story, but for us it’s a good day. I’ve been around here in a stock car a lot of times; of course it’s a little bit quicker in an IndyCar. It’s a lot of fun and a new challenge. The wind is challenging too. We worked a lot on it and we learned a lot. I learned a lot for sure.”

Marty Roth was also quick right out of the truck, setting his fast lap early in the session.

MARTY ROTH (#25, Roth Racing)
“It felt really good to get back in the car and get up to speed so quickly. We were in the top 10 all session until the throttle cable broke and forced us to miss the last 15 minutes. We look forward to finding some more speed tomorrow and having a great race.”

LARRY CURRY (Roth Racing)
“It’s a great run for Roth racing here in Texas. Unfortunately on Marty’s car we broke a throttle cable late in the session, but it’s a clone of the 24, so we have 2 really fast race cars.”

There will be one more practice session Friday afternoon followed by qualifying at 6:45 pm ET.
